Homeless Helping Homeless, Inc. (HHH) is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the homeless population within the Greater Tampa area. HHH provides hope and strength to this underserved community, empowering them to change their lives and the community for the better.
HHH has been supporting the homeless community for almost 15 years, ever since their founder Mr. Adolphus Parker was asked by the community to take a man into his home who needed help. This was the spark that ignited the counterintuitive idea — homeless people helping other homeless individuals. Out of this concept, emerged Homeless Helping the Homeless, which became an official non-profit organization in 2009.
Mr. Parker felt something needed to be done about the dreadful situation of the chronically homeless sleeping on the streets. He understood that despite personal circumstances and mental and addiction issues, homeless people still needed housing. Like its founder, Homeless Helping Homeless, Inc. believes that if these individuals were given an opportunity and empowered, they could do something for themselves and many others.
Today, Homeless Helping Homeless, Inc. manages three permanent housing facilities, one transitional housing unit, one emergency housing unit, and a mobile home unit and is 1 of just 14 peer-run crisis organizations in the entire United States. HHH has a long history of not just helping the homeless but promoting their rights as equal citizens and tackling the stigmatization facing this group of people.
